Appointment and termination of mandate for members of the Council/Complaints Commission

At the 10th Session of the PC's Board of Directors, held on 11th of June 2009 in Sarajevo, tree new members of the Complaints Commission were elected: Ph.D. Nada Ler-Sofronic, psychologist, Director of the Centre „Woman and Society“ from Sarajevo, Ms Nada Dalipagic, lawyer from Mostar and Ms Nada Arsenic, judge from Gracanica.
Thus, the current membership of the Complaints Commission for the next two years is following: Ph.D. MIODRAG ZIVANOVIC, professor of philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy Banja Luka, Mr DRAZEN ZUBAK, lawyer from Sarajevo, MA GORAN JANKOVIC, master of communications and fine and visual artist, professor, docent at Faculty of Communications in Banja Luka, Mr FUAD KOVACEVIC, journalist, Deputy Editor in Chief of daily „Oslobodjenje“, MA. ENES OSMANCEVIC, professor at Department of Journalism at Faculty of Philosophy in Tuzla, Ph.D. NADA LER-SOFRONIC, psychologist, Director of the Centre „Woman and Society“ from Sarajevo, Ms NADA DALIPAGIC, lawyer from Mostar and Ms NADA ARSENIC, judge from Gracanica.
Membership within the Complaints Commission of the Press Council ended for the Chairwoman of the Commission, Ms Vildana Selimbegovic, who due to transfer to daily „Oslobodjenje“ decided to withdraw from the Complaints Commission and leave the open place for Mr Fuad Kovacevic, who also accepted new post at this daily. After expiry of their mandates, membership within the Commission did not continue Mr Sasa Bizic, journalist of magazine „Reporter“ and Mr Mladen Bosnjak, journalist of magazine „Hercegovacke novine“.

Appointed Chairwoman of the Complaints Commission, Ms Vildana Selimbegovic, Editor in Chief of magazine "BH Dani". Also, appointed members of the Urgent Complaints Commission: Ph.D. Miodrag Zivanovic, docent MA Enes Osmancevic and Mr Mladen Bosnjak. Members of the Complaints Commission shall adjudicate on behalf of the Complaints Commission, when the session cannot be organised, or in case of urgent need for adjudicating on certain case.

The Board of Directors of the Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina nominated and appointed new members of the Complaints Commission, for period 1st July 2007 - 1st July 2009. The Complaints Commission is comprised of eight members: Ph.D. MIODRAG ZIVANOVIC, professor, Faculty of Philosophy, Banja Luka; Mr DRAZEN ZUBAK, Lawyer, Sarajevo; docent MA ENES OSMANCEVIC, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Philosophy, Department of Journalism, Tuzla; Mr FUAD KOVACEVIC, Editor, Press Agency ONASA, Sarajevo; docent MA GORAN JANKOVIC, painter, Professor at the Faculty for Communications, Banja Luka; Mr MLADEN BOŠNJAK, Editor in Chief, Radio "Stari Most" and magazine "Hercegovacke novine", Mostar/Ljubuski; Mr SASA BIZIC, Deputy Editor in Chief, magazine "Reporter", Banja Luka; Ms VILDANA SELIMBEGOVIC, Editor in Chief, magazine "BH Dani", Sarajevo.

Journalist Union of B&H delegated two new representatives in membership of the Press Council: professor FADIL ADEMOVIC, professor and publicist from Sarajevo, and Mr MLADEN BOSNJAK, Chairman of the Journalist Union of B&H and Editor of magazine "Hercegovacke novine" from Ljubuski. Representatives of the Union of Journalists of B&H nominated instead of Ph.D. Besim Spahic, Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo, and Mr Dario Novalic, Director of magazine "Start" from Sarajevo.

Independent Union of Professional Journalists nominated designer, MA. AMRA ZULFIKARPASIC, Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, in membership of the B&H Press Council. Ms Zulfikarpasic replaced former representative of the association, Ph.D. Sacir Filandra, Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo.

Accepted decision of Lord Wakeham, first International Chairman of the B&H Press Council, to step down from position of the International Chairman. Also, Lord Wakeham steps down from position of Chairman of the Press Complaints Commission of Great Britain, as moral act after being associated with financial fraud of the company "Enron" in U.K.
Professor ROBERT PINKER, acting Chairman of the Press Complaints Commission of Great Britain, nominated and appointed as the acting Chairman of the B&H Press Council.

Appointed first International Chairman of the B&H Press Council, Lord JOHN WAKEHAM, Chairman of the Press Complaints Commission of Great Britain. Lord Wakeham has accepted proposal of the Working Group for Establishment of the B&H Press Council to chair the Press Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Working Group believed that an international chairman can make balance between different national groups within the Press Council, and with his rich experience in self-regulation and good connections with international organisations ensure continuous work of this Council. According to the Statute, the Chairman was elected for two years, with possibility to extend his mandate.
