Representatives of the Press Council in BiH
at the Regional Conference on Media Self-Regulation
March 26th - 27th 2015, Belgrade
Representatives of the Press Council in BiH participated at the Regional Conference on Media Self-Regulation, which was held from the 26th to the 27th of March 2015 in Belgrade. The Conference was organized by the Council of Europe, within the project “Advancement of the Freedom of Expression and Information and Media Freedom in South-East Europe”.
The Conference was attended by representatives of self-regulatory bodies from BiH, Serbia, Monte Negro, Kosovo and Macedonia, as well as representatives from Albania where the formation of a self-regulatory body is expected.
The representatives of the Press Council in BiH were: Ms. Ljiljana Zurovac, Executive Director; Mr. Dario Novalic, Chair of the Board of Directors; Mr. Dejan Jazvic, Member of the Board of Directors; Mr. Fuad Kovacevic, Member of the Complaints Commission and Ms. Maida Bahto Kestendzic, Project Coordinator for Complaints.
The purpose of the conference was to further improve regional cooperation and the exchange of experiences in the field of ethics, as well as to concur on the registration of a regional network of self-regulatory bodies - MEDIA NEThics.
The other topics discussed included: online media, social networks and various communication platforms, as well as hate speech in online media.
Each participant presented his or her self-regulatory body’s report on the work conducted in the previous year, as well as their Press Code.
The Conference was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway.
